Jake takes on this seasons ploughing matches

Harvest comes to a close and ploughing match season begins with our Parts Manager, Jake in the competition

As the final fields are harvested and farmers across the region breathe a collective sigh of relief, attention now turns to the much-anticipated ploughing match season. A time-honoured tradition, these matches celebrate the skill and precision of ploughmen and women who compete to demonstrate their mastery of one of farming’s oldest crafts.

Here at J A Bloor Agricultural Services, we’ve been working tirelessly to support our customers throughout the busy harvest season, ensuring that equipment has been kept in top condition to handle the demanding work. With the last of the crops gathered, we’re turning our focus to supporting those gearing up for the ploughing matches – including our very own parts manager, Jake!

Jake, who has been with us at JABAGRI for over ten years, is known for his expertise in keeping our customers’ machines running smoothly. But outside of the parts department, he has a passion for ploughing, and this season, he’ll be competing in several matches across the region.

The ploughing match season is an important time for the agricultural community, offering a chance for farmers and enthusiasts to come together after the intense period of harvest. It’s not just about competition; it’s about camaraderie, sharing knowledge, and celebrating the hard work that goes into producing food for the nation.

Jake will be taking part in 2 & 3 furrow reversible ploughing categories, competing alongside seasoned professionals and up-and-coming talent. Already competing in the Burton-on-Trent and Lichfield matches, you can see Jake at the following events:

• 15/09/2024 Stone District – Model Farm, Hanchurch, Stoke-on-Trent, ST4 8SD
• 22/09/2024 Ashbourne YFC – Headlow Fields Farm, Snelston, DE6 2GP
• 28/09/2024 Eccleshall District – Befcote Farm, Gnosall, ST20 0EB

For those attending, be sure to visit members of team JABAGRI at several of the local matches. We will be on hand to answer any questions you may have, offer advice on machinery maintenance post-harvest, and show off the latest equipment designed to make your farm more efficient for the next season.
